Dandelion Wine
Do you remember the story 'Dandelion Wine' by Ray Bradbury? It's about packing all the joys of summer into one single bottle. It's what I think about most when I go to the Minnesota State Fair. That, and foot long hot dogs, onion rings, strawberries and cream, deep fried green beans, mini doughnut's. Ok, the Minnesota State Fair is really all about packing a summer's worth of calories into one single day. But, it's tradition.
Oh, and we saw Marjorie

Grand Old Party
Well, here they come.
Political views aside, Mpls/St. Paul is really looking great! Even old Taste of Thailand on Selby, which would never need an up-do for local business, shut down for 2 weeks for a paint job! (gasp)
Things definitely will be interesting here next week during the RNC.
This republican elephant I couldn't resist. She was outside of the Mpls Institute of Arts. The day before I took this shot, she had two beautiful little one's on each side of her. And in
(can anyone explain to me what the peacock represents in politics? NBC?).
Let's just hope the major bridges stay in tact.

hat by becca jo

I love my new hat by becca jo, but what is it about this picture that reminds me of Super Nanny?
Don't forget to check out all of her work at this weekends Art Market.

Where's Huck?
Can you find the chipmunk? He's somewhere in the picture with Nana, Pop, and Brynn. This post is to introduce you to 'Huck' (Brynn named him) the Chipmunk and his many adventures. Huck will have his picture taken in many places. Somewhere amidst the scene, he will be hiding for you to find! Huck's hiding place for this week is easy, but he'll get trickier as time goes by!

Temporary Insanity Bars
I've changed the name from Cookie Dough Brownies to Temporary Insanity Bars. I did this because you'd have to be temporarily insane to actually make these after reading the ingredients and knowing exactly how terribly bad they are for you. But also, once you take a bite, there you go. Insanity.
I had to whip something up because at work Miss Roz says in her great southern accent, "Miss Sara, we need something with chocolate." Well, here you are.
Caution: Don't Google the recipe for these. Don't ever make them unless you'll be taking them out of sight and the pan will come home empty and free of the guilt and sin that is associated with such decadence.

Summertime at Pine Tree Lake
Brynn had a great time boating on Pine Tree Lake this past weekend!
As did the rest of us, as we had a glorious afternoon in the sun saying farewell (again) to dear Nathan. He departs for Alaska for another two years - not to live (as he says) but to work. We'll miss you!
We also say farewell to Brian! How proud we are that he's quit his fancy pants job to spend time learning how to make wine in Sonoma while Marissa finishes her p.h.d. in Memphis. We look forward to hearing what else is in store for you.
Hey Shan, here's the picture that turned out.
Thanks for the fantab blueberry cakes, Garafola.
May Day Cafe
It's great when I get the chance to spend time with my yoga friends Krista and Shadee. We used to be able to meet every Friday morning for coffee at the May Day. Now with Krista having 3 kids; Shadee's new job; and my schedule with Brynn, we're lucky to see each other once every few months. We always grab the same table. If you're in the mood for a swell cup of fair trade coffee, an excellent sweet roll or scone or perhaps the best breakfast burrito this side of the Mississip - take a

sweet on candy
Here's some candy you don't see much in MN. Although I thought a Twin Bing was a novelty treat I wouldn't be able to find at home but then Nick brought one back from the gas station thats .06 of a mile away from our house. There goes that theory. Nick's parents always bring us a Big Hunk whenever they go on vacation - so we brought one home for them. Chick-O-Stick, ah... just o.k. Twin Bing is Nick's new all time favorite gas station candy. FYI, there's no cherry even listed in the ingredients. Is this post pathetic? Ya.
