movie monday

This is the time of year we start watching more movies. We're a bit behind the times, as we don't get to the theater much anymore. But I figure if we see a good one over the weekend, I'd mention it here so if you have any interest, you can just hop over to your Netflix account and add it to your queue.

The Diving Bell and the Butterfly is based on a true story about the editor of Elle magazine, French journalist Jean-Dominique Bauby. Bauby suffered from a massive stroke which left him in a very rare condition called locked-in syndrome. This movie tells the story of Bauby writing his memoir of the same name with the help of his therapist. Subtitled.

If you haven't seen this movie, check it out. I'd say two things stood out most for me. Mathieu Almaric as Bauby, and the cinematography. Outstanding. A sad movie, but so much fun to watch because you can't help but take note of the camera work since nearly 70% of the film is seen through the one functioning eye of Bauby. The final 15 minutes of this film are so pleasing to watch that you may just find yourself saying 'wow' out loud, as I did.

1000 kisses

Of course I had to load up my desk with the new fall-themed Hershey's Kisses - Pumpkin Spice and Candy Corn. I didn't think either would be too big of a hit, but everyone keeps coming back for the Candy Corn. I wanted to make chocolate cookies and place the Candy Corn Kisses on top but I didn't. I shouldn't. I will...

Teddy Bear Park with Grandma and Grandpa

Children or no children, if you haven't been to Teddy Bear Park, you must check it out. The granite teddy bears weigh over 20 tons! Brynn had her first visit with Grandpa and Grandma and by the looks of it, I think she had a good time.

Wedding Bells in the Dells

How come we haven't spent more time in Wisconsin? Stunning forests and rolling hills, gorgeous scenic river views, water parks in every direction, and people that know how to rock and roll like no other. Badger State, you're crazy.

What other state do you hop on a river boat, and stop along the way to watch a German Shepherd cliff jump?? PETA beware.

Meg was a stunning bride. Her and John had a perfect wedding day. Congratulations, Mr. & Mrs. Nelson. Go Viking's.

Brynn and Stella had a lovely time dancing the night away!

Somewhere between the Kennedy's and the Bundy's, you find the Nephew's.

Well, it's officially Fall. I think we're ready for apple pies and lazy football Sunday's. Thanks Meg and John, for one final summer weekend of fun and a great wedding for a beautiful couple!
